Jessicabeel Wins 2010 Chairman’s Handicap

Jessicabeel, trained by John O’Shea, won the illustrious $150,000 Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) over the weekend – a highlight at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse’s Australian Derby Day.

The 2010 Chairman’s Handicap winner came from the back of the field to cross the line first along the top of the straight.

In second place was No Wine No Song by two lengths, with another head separating Harris Tweed back in third.

Bart Cummings-trained Precedence was favourite going into the 2010 Chairman’s Handicap, and in what was a tight race finished in fifth spot, behind an impressive performance from Capecover.

With the win behind her, Jessicabeel’s campaign for the $400,000 Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m) taking place on the 24th of April is right on track.

Also taking place on Saturday as part of the Australian Derby Day was the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m), the Group 1 T J Smith Stakes and the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m).
