The Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap is due to run at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday May 12, 2012.

Run over a distance of 2,020 metres, the 2012 Chairman’s Handicap will be run under quality handicap conditions.

The 2012 Chairman’s Handicap is open to horses aged three-years-old and upwards only and is worth $115,000 in prize money.

The 2012 Chairman’s Handicap takes place on BTC Cup Day and shares its program with the Group 1 BTC Cup, Group 3 Rough Habit Plate and Listed Hampden Stakes.

Last year’s Chairman’s Handicap was won by Humma, who finished the race a nose ahead of Viking Hero and Count Encosta.

Humma, who is now an eight-year-old gelding, has won ten of his 68 race starts and has earned more than $510,000 in prize money.

The Iglesia gelding is trained by Robert Heathcote at eagle Farm and had his last race start at Doomben on February 18, 2012.

Prior to his Chairman’s Handicap win, Humma had also won the Listed Toowoomba Cup at Toowoomba Racecourse two months earlier.

Humma then went on to finish fifth in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup in his next start after his Chairman’s Handicap win.
