Officially registered as the $125,000 Group 3 BTC Chairman’s Handicap (2200m), this year’s race runs at the Gold Coast Racecourse on A.D. Hollindale Stakes on the weekend and is set to run as Race 3 at 12:52pm (AEST).

The final Gold Coast Chairman’s Handicap field features 10 hopefuls, and one of the sure-to-be favourites at Ladbrokes.com.au is Tremec in barrier nine.

The Zabeel gelding was last seen carrying only 53kg to victory at Randwick in the Group 2 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (2600m) run on a Heavy-rated Sydney track, form he’s out to repeat in Queensland on Saturday over less distance and going up to 57.5kg with Brenton Avdulla to ride.

The next best in the ATC Chairman’s, which also produced Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal (3rd), was the Peter Moody-trained Sir John Hawkwood, the Sir Percy six-year-old looking to turn the tables with Glen Boss staying on in round two in Queensland.

The other two last start winners in the field are then Toby Edmonds’ local High Chaparral mare Monaco Doll who won over the 2220m at Doomben only last Saturday as a 17/1 hope and Perplexity representing former champion hoop turned trainer Chris Munce.

Lonhro five-year-old Perplexity jumps from gate six this weekend carrying the 54kg minimum, the same weight the gelding had with Luke Tarrant, retaining the ride this weekend, aboard on April 11 to win a Benchmark 95 at Doomben over the same distance as Saturday.

Also coming out of that race is the Robert Heathcote-trained Volkhere drawn in barrier two this weekend.

The other most notable Chairman’s Handicap hope is the Chris Waller-trained 59kg top weight Index Linked, the imported Dansili seven-year-old to be ridden by Glen Boss on the short turnaround having run fifth last weekend in Sydney’s Group 3 JRA Plate (2000m).
