Libran has returned to racing in slick form this time and remains clear $2.20 favourite in 2016 Chairman’s Handicap betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Destiny’s Kiss ($5.50) and Café Society ($6.50).

Will Libran continue his slick run of form with success in the 2016 Chairman’s Handicap or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

Libran ($2.20)

Libran has been a strong and consistent performer through his entire racing career and will be tough to beat in the 2016 Chairman’s Handicap from the ideal barrier 4. Debuting in November for Chris Waller, Libran returned to competition for third in the Gardenia Handicap (1600m) on February 6th before running on for fourth in the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m) a fortnight later. Having since convincingly won both the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) and Group 3 NE Manion Cup (2400m), the Lawman gelding has been confirmed to be partnered by regular hoop Brenton Avdulla.

Alegria ($13)

Alegria has been a consistent performer for Godolphin through notable black type races this season and will relish a step-up to 2600m for the 2016 Chairman’s Handicap on Day 1 of The Championships. Placing fifth in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) on January 8th, the Medaglia D’oro mare placed second in a Randwick BM85 race over a mile on February 13th before running on for third in the Group 3 Aspiration Handicap (1600m) on March 5th. Placing fourth in the Group 3 Epona Stakes (1900m) last time out, Alegria will carry only 54kgs in the 2016 Chairman’s Handicap and will leave from the ideal barrier 2 with in-form hoop Sam Clipperton in the saddle.

Café Society ($6.50)

Café Society carries competitive black type form into the Chairman’s Handicap and is another horse than will enjoy a step up in trip this weekend. Running seventh in his first two starts this time including the Randwick City Stakes, the Motivator gelding produced a strong performance in the NE Manion Cup last time out and finished second behind Libran. Drawn well in barrier 6, Hong Kong-based hoop Zac Purton will take the ride on Café Society this weekend.
